Archaeologia Austriaca publishes articles, short reports, special sections and book reviews. Contributions published in the “Article” section must formulate clearly defined research questions and objectives and describe the appropriate methods. The presentation of the research results is followed by an interpretation and discussion of the results with appropriate contextualisation, including the relevant research literature. Papers should include an abstract in English and German (max. 150 words each) and up to 7 keywords (English and German). English is the preferred language of publication, contributions in German are also welcome.

Short Reports are scientific to the point contributions that provide the opportunity to briefly present research projects and results, discuss current topics or introduce new methods. Short Reports comprise up to 1500 words (including title, abstract, acknowledgements, references) and may contain a maximum of 6 figures and tables. A short concise title, an abstract of maximum 65 words and up to 5 keywords complete the report. The publication language is English.

Both articles and reports are subject to international peer review and are published in print and online (open access).
